Depeche Mode
Words cannot describe the power this band has over me now. Every time I hear a new song or skip through some of their record catalog I’m amazed even more. The dark, swirling synth/dark-wave structures - the moody lyrics - Dave’s unique singing style. All the ingredients are there. Their best of record has been sitting on my shelf for years and it’s only now that I’m discovering the true nature of their music.
I urge you - anyone who is into electronic music (or music for that matter) - take a look and see where it all started. The legacy these guys have is amazing. Even musicians outside the electronica world (Chris Martin for example) are paying homage to them through their music and videos.
